Aitan first asked to play the saxophone back
when he was in second grade after he saw then President Bill Clinton
putting on a sax show on TV. He was given a saxophone that he could
hardly hold and within minutes was playing a perfect rendition of
"When the Saints go Marching In". That summer he joined Pioneer Middle
School's summer Band camp and has been taking private lessons ever
since. Aitan is currently in the 8th grade at Pioneer Middle where he
plays the trombone in the school's symphonic orchestra. He also plays
the saxophone in multiple groups, including the Pioneer Middle School
Jazz Band, the Florida Youth Orchestra (he also plays the trombone
there), and of course, AMP.
Aitan's many musical accomplishments through
the years include a 3rd place Award in the Rising Star talent
competition at Aventura Mall in 2004, seven combined superior ratings
for Solo & Ensemble performances saxophone and trombone at the FBA Solo
& Ensemble Festival, and was also accepted into the All County Jazz,
and All County Symphonic bands for the 2005-2006 school year.
In addition to Aventura Mall, Aitan's public
performances include a solo saxophone set at the 2005 Chanukah on Las
Olas Celebration and a group performance with AMP at a fundraising
event at Congregation Amcha in Ft. Lauderdale.
